Summer is officially over, school is in session, and Fall is finally here! The weather may be starting to cool down, but fun family activities are still heating up, right into the winter months. You may not know exactly where to go, or what to do, but you definitely want to make some memories with your family this Fall.
Just like the playgrounds you need to visit, Fall is full of activities and adventures both you and your children are sure to enjoy. Specialty events and activities open for just a few short months, and it’s up to you to get your family out and enjoying them! Fall activities are a great way to experience and explore new sights and sounds with your children, and even start a new tradition you can repeat every Fall!
So get outside, take advantage of these short Fall months, and check out these ideas for festive fun you can experience with your family!
Go Apple Picking
Apple picking is one of the activities that has only grown in popularity over the past few years, and is truly fun for the whole family and children of all ages! There are a number of places to go apple picking in the GTA, offering pick-your-own fruit, tractor rides, and some locations even have petting zoos on site! Bundle up in your cozy best, and prepare for a day filled with Fall fun. The best part is this is the activity that keeps on giving, as you can enjoy making apple treats, such as pies and crumbles, with your family for days after your apple picking trip! You will even be able to share the treats made from your apple picking with friends, family, and neighbours alike.
Take A Hike!
Before the snow starts to hit the ground, get outside and take advantage of one of the many great hiking trails around the GTA. There are a number of easy hiking trails where you can enjoy the scenic route while taking in the surrounding lakes, fields, and even waterfalls! Take the laid out path, or even explore some of the natural state of the areas surrounding the trails, with caution of course. Your children will love the adventure of a nature hike, and you will love sneaking in some physical activity with your family. No doubt your children will want to tell everyone they know about all the sights and sounds they saw during their hiking adventure with their family!
Get Lost In A Corn Maze
If you haven’t taken your children to experience a corn maze, Downey’s Corn Maze Adventure is definitely the way to go! With over 4 kilometres of trails, your family will have an incredible time getting lost together! While older children may want to run off and experience the maze on their own, remember, children under 12 are required to be supervised throughout the maze. Plus, won’t it be more fun to get lost, and then found, together as a family? After you complete the maze, you can visit the family fun play area, the market, and more! You can make a whole day out of this fun adventure, and your children will barely notice they have been outside and away from their favourite toys for a full day!
Visit Camp Spooky
Located at Canada’s Wonderland, Camp Spooky events run on Saturdays and Sundays throughout October from 10am to 5pm, and actually aren’t spooky at all! These day events are geared towards children and families, so the whole family can enjoy themselves together. Along with your favourite rides being open, you can enjoy two mazes, as well as Halloween activities, including a costume parade! Campy Spooky is also covered under existing passes, so that is a bonus if you are already a regular at Canada’s Wonderland!
Pick Your Pumpkin
Pumpkin picking, similar to apple picking, is one of those classic Fall activities that the whole family can get excited about. After visiting one of the many pumpkin patches around the GTA, or beyond, you can enjoy carving up your pumpkins with the family for the perfect Halloween decorations around the house. Many pumpkin patches, in addition to picking your own pumpkins, have games, tractor wagon rides, mazes, and more!
