The weather is warming, bringing with it lots of opportunities for your infant to explore and learn. Spring activities for your infant are all around if you just slow down and take a look at nature. Make time to enjoy everything Spring has to offer.
An Afternoon At The Beach
Taking your infant to the seashore is a treat for you both. Protect your child from the sun for starters, and then let them get “down and dirty” in the sand. Being an infant isn’t always about being neat and clean, so allow them to experience this environment as a whole.
They will listen to the sound of the waves, watch the shore birds flying above, and feel the sand between their toes. Fill a bucket with all kinds of shells from the beach and let them explore. These are all new experiences and opportunities to develop their senses. Splashing in the water is a pastime we all enjoy, so laugh with your infant and create a learning moment.
Visit Your Own Backyard
Sit them on the soft grass at a park or in your own backyard. A park will provide animals small and large to observe and maybe touch.
Your backyard can provide numerous opportunities for your infant. Hummingbird feeders, bird baths, and colourful plants all add to their fascination with the outdoors. Place a bird feeder near the window so they can watch the birds come to eat and sing.
Butterflies And Bubbles
Bubbles can play an important role in fun for infants. Inexpensive and fun for all ages, your little one will be mesmerized by the colours, popping them and watching them float away. Springtime is the perfect bubble blowing time. See if you can show your infant how to blow on the applicator.
If you are lucky enough to live near a butterfly habitat, this visual treat will delight your infant and every member of the family.
Let’s Build
If the weather turns rainy, this activity can be enjoyed indoors or outdoors. Colourful blocks and shapes are the perfect way to engage your infant and practise motor skills. Stacking them, fitting them into containers, and taking them out again are all ways to develop spatial awareness. Group together objects of the same colour and speak the name of the colour.
