Childventures: Virtues in Education

virtues

Childhood education should be interesting, interactive, and encourage a sense of exploration. Above all, a child’s early education should cultivate a positive attitude towards learning that will last for life. A large part of cultivating a positive attitude about learning early on in our child’s life is integrating a set of strong values into education, which promote a positive life purpose.

The Childventures curriculum has a strong focus on a well-rounded education program, which balances teaching children both valuable skills as well as virtues. This close connection between practical skills and positive virtues lends itself to your child receiving a fulfilling educational experience overall.

The Virtues Project

To cultivate a positive, holistic approach to education, Childventures created the Virtues Project. Through this program, children experience positive virtues in their daily interactions and activities to bring out the best in each child. The Virtues Project takes a theme based on which program your child is in, and integrates a different virtue into their curriculum to help each child live by their highest values.

Each virtue provides empowering strategies that inspire the practice of virtues in everyday life. One of the monthly virtues is Respect. The Virtues Project integrates respect into the curriculum by teaching children how to speak and act towards each other with courtesy and dignity, while honouring the rules of our family, school, and nation. The Virtues Project teaches us that by respecting yourself, others will respect you as well. Other virtues integrated in the curriculum include: Thankfulness, Patience, Cooperation, and Gentleness, to name a few.

World Kindness Day

On Friday, November 13th, we all celebrate World Kindness Day. Driven by the World Kindness Movement, the day involves people from around the world showing that we can think about others more than we think about ourselves. World Kindness Day is about extending gestures of kindness, and helping others to restore a sense of humanity in one another and in ourselves. By participating in these small acts of kindness, we can all work together in the hopes to make the world a better place because of it.

Childventures believes in offering each child the opportunity to grow and develop in a safe, educational, and creative environment. If you would like to learn more about the Childventures Virtues Project, please contact us for more information.
