December is a busy time for all families. Between festive parties, holiday shopping, vacation days, and preparing for the new year ahead; it can be a lot to handle. While you may have some time off during this hectic month (lucky you!), it’s also quite possible that you may be busier than ever!
Balancing your schedule alone can be quite the feat, but what happens when your children’s winter vacation doesn’t quite line up with yours? If your children have some time off when you don’t, what is a parent to do?
What To Do During Winter
During these winter breaks, it can definitely be tempting to allow your children to hide out indoors, cuddled up on the couch watching some favourite seasonal movies. We don’t blame you; one of the best places to be on a cold winter days is inside, cozy with the family.
There is value in slowing down and spending some quality family time; in fact, we encourage it! However, it is also important for children to stay active and learning during times when there is a break from school or child care.
Winter Break Camp
At Childventures, we offer 2 weeks of Winter Break Camp. During these week long camps, your children can enjoy snowmen, arts, crafts, learning, and exploration! The Winter Break Camps offer the same safe, warm, and welcoming environment as all regular programs at Childventures. Our schedule of events for children aged 6 – 10 years old are made to inspire fun, learning, and excitement for your children.
The first week of winter break camp is from Monday, December 21st to Friday, December 25th. The daily schedule runs from 7am until 6pm, and includes a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack before departure. The second week of winter break camp runs from Monday, December 28th to Friday, January 1st, with the same daily schedule as Week 1.
Between meals and planned activities, there is plenty of time for outdoor play, as well as large and small group activities. The variety of crafts, physical events, and differing group activities allow your children to play, learn, and interact in an engaging way during their downtime from regular school programs.
