Yoga for children 2-3 years old

Namaste! CV has partnered with Little Yogis Academy, a mobile evidence-based movement and mindfulness enrichment program, to offer weekend yoga for children.

The program was created by a professional yoga instructor and an Ontario Certified Teacher with a focus on channeling children’s activity levels, encouraging them to turn, twist, stretch and strengthen their muscles in new ways. Tiny Yogi Twinklers will help children improve their awareness, balance, coordination and focus in addition to building mirror neurons and increasing lung capacity.

Benefits of yoga for children

  • Physical development: Yoga assists in developing strength, flexibility, and balance. The various poses and movements engages muscles, enhances coordination, and improves overall gross motor skills.
  • Emotional regulation: Yoga provides children tools to manage emotions and promote emotional well-being. The practice of deep breathing and gentle movements can help reduce stress and regulate emotions.
  • Concentration and focus: Yoga encourages mindfulness and concentration by focusing attention on breath, body, and the present moment. This can enhance children’s ability to concentrate and stay focused in other areas of life as well
  • Mind-body connection: Yoga practice connects minds with bodies. When children become more attuned to the sensations and signals from their bodies, it builds self-awareness and self-regulation.

Program Details

  • Class Times: Saturdays, 9:00-9:45am
  • 4-week session $100 + HST OR save $20 by signing up for all 8 weeks

Sample Learning Opportunities

  • Feelings: talk about feelings big or small through body movements related to emotions
  • ABCs: identify letters and letter sounds through letter shape body movements
  • Shapes: identify basic shapes through games & body movements
