Ontario Support for Families
As you are likely aware, the Ontario Ministry of Education is providing financial support to parents during school and childcare closures due to COVID-19. Parents are eligible for a one-time per child payment of: $200 for children aged 0-12, or $250 for children with special needs aged 0-21.
You may apply for this starting today. If you have more than one child, you must fill out one application form per child.
Here is the link to the application: https://www.iaccess.gov.on.ca/FamilyAppWeb/public/index.xhtml
In the application you are asked to indicate where your child attends school.
For all Childventures students, regardless of age, please select the following options:
- My child is not enrolled in either public or private school
- Under the dropdown option choose my child is in childcare
Please see the highlighted fields in the print screen below.

Dear Parents & Team Members,
Today, Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced child care centre closures have been extended by 14 days, to April 13, 2020. We are fully aware this date has created a lot of confusion on many social media platforms. At this time the communication we have been provided is the mandate is extended until April 13, 2020. And we are passing this on to you.
This continued closure applies to licensed child care centres and falls under the Ontario Declaration of Emergency, which allows closures to be extended for one 14-day period at a time. This is March 31, 2020 – April 13, 2020. However, it is anticipated that this could be extended.
Our goal is to be ready to serve your families as soon as we are able. Premier Ford reiterated today that child cares will remain closed until it is safe for children to return. Your child’s health and safety are important to us, and we will follow all mandated guidelines from the Chief Medical Officer of Health and our governing bodies.
Your CV Team
Monday, March 30, 2020
Dear Childventures Families,
I hope this communication finds you and your family well. As we approach the third week of our CV closure due to COVID-19, we are recognizing the high level of support from our team members, families and communities. This support has been related to closures, isolation and physical distancing. Behaviours like these demonstrate the sacrifices being made by us all. Such actions are necessary and respected. Thank you for your part in these worldwide events.
Our main goal is to communicate with you and create transparency while the world keeps changing. We are in this together and let’s unite to support one another.
- OPEN DATE: Monday, April 6, 2020
Our goal is to open on Monday, April 6. This is the current known information from our licensing government bodies. However, we anticipate changes to this mandate which we are legislated to follow. Should our government change this mandate to a new timeline, we will immediately let you know. Our goal is to be ready to serve our families and re-open in a CV way. This means continuing to keep the health and safety of all team members and children at the forefront of our decision making.
- ESSENTIAL SERVICES: Childcare Is An Essential Service
Childcare is deemed an essential service as it may be required to help essential workers get back to work. (https://www.ontario.ca/page/list-essential-workplaces) However, at this time, private childcare centres like ours have not been asked for this support. CV will remain in conversations with our governing agencies and do what is right. We will inform you of any actions or outcomes as they develop. It is important for you to know that should this happen, it would not be business as usual, nor would any of our current families be expected to return to CV immediately.
- WHEN CV OPENS AGAIN: Best Practices
Undoubtedly, there will be new and improved guidelines to protect the safety and well-being of our children, team members and families. CV will adopt any updated policies and procedures that relate to meeting or exceeding the expectations of care. Please know that we are collaborating with experts and will create enhancements to directly impact your experience with us.

In closing, I recognize that this is a very difficult time for ALL of us. From business owners to employees, from essential workers to non-essential services, from financial pressures to financial support programs, from isolation to internet social connections; we are all in this together! The best of each of us needs to come out.
The time for fear and concern is valid and now feelings of optimism and a positive future are in our vision of 2020.

On Sunday, March 15, 2020 Childventures made the difficult but necessary decision to close all locations due to COVID‐19. Through in‐depth evaluation of information obtained from our governing and leadership sources, this decision was made with the focus on health and safety concerns for our children, families and team members. Today, Ontario Premier Doug Ford declared a state of emergency and mandated the closure of ALL childcare centres in Ontario. This means other private centres that chose to remain open, are now forced to follow this order until March 31, 2020.
Childventures has always aspired to be a leader in childcare and preschool education. We are guided by a deep sense of responsibility and care, and in our efforts to “do the right thing”, we did not wait for Premier Ford to mandate our closure. We continue to lead in our field, and place the highest priority on caring for our families, children and team members. We thank you for your support and look forward to the upcoming days where we can be of service to all those who put their trust in us.

Based on the guidance of Public Health and discussions with our leadership and families, we have made the difficult decision to close all Childventures locations and programs effective immediately, in an effort to work with our regional, provincial and federal partners to contain the spread of COVID-19.
This action is being taken with an abundance of caution, and there is no current perceived risk at any Childventures locations. Our decisions are being based on information from our municipal, provincial and federal governing bodies.
As of Monday, March 16, 2020 all Childventures locations will be closed.
This includes Ancaster, Burlington, Oakville, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, and Milton locations. This is for our daily Childcare and our March Break Programs. It is our expectation that they will reopen on Monday, April, 6, 2020.
Our first priority at Childventures is the health and safety of our children, families and team members. We recognize the significant impact this closure may have on all involved, and we appreciate your understanding as we navigate our way through this unprecedented and challenging situation. Please try to understand that has been very difficult for us as well. We will be working with our government and regions to understand the best and most proactive way to handle this situation. Over the next few days we will communicate with you details of the closures and actions to return on April 6, 2020. However, we are working with our partners, governing agencies and communities to manage all aspects of this very complicated circumstance. We ask for your patience and allow us the time needed to discover the next steps.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely, and as we know more, we will share any updates.
If you, or any family members begin to experience any symptoms of COVID-19 please let us know at email@example.com and contact your primary care provider, local Public Health Department, or Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000
